We are fast headed toward 25th–28rd October long weekend 2024(that’s right, we’re taking the Friday off as well, since we know hardly anyone bothers going into the office anymore, and you guys will all be here in Taranaki frothing anyway). So, is the Taranaki Wave Classic on this year? You bet your eco-friendly cotton socks it is! The forecast is FUNtastic! In truth, the actual weather on the day is anyone’s guess. Spring has started and so has the Taranaki sailing season. There has been plenty of great sailing at Pungarahu and Waitara with no shortage of swell. We have another big swell arriving this week. The preparations for the TWC18 are in full swing. We have a good number of early bird entries and great support from our sponsors. The TWC is all about fun, with its expression session format where competitors free-sail in whatever conditions occur at the chosen location for that day. Once again the Oakura Boardriders club will be the venue for TWC. We will be holding the saturday morning registration and after sailing bbq and beers. Also the Sunday dinner, prize giving. read more2018 Taranaki Wave Classic 19th to 22nd October
The 2018 Taranaki Wave Classic will keep up the long tradition of running over New Zealand Labour long weekend. Friday 19th October is a warm up day with the main competition days being Saturday and Sunday. We have been getting great interest from overseas for the event. There are also rumours of top international sailors getting visas and booking flights for the event.
